Copywriting FAQ

What types of copywriting do you do?

While I have covered a range of projects from eCommerce copywriting to branded content, I specialise in website copywriting, email copywriting and content strategy.

My niches are in copywriting for family brands and health brands.

I’m busy! How much time will this take?

Yep, I get it. One of the advantages of hiring a freelance copywriter is to save precious time. You’re busy growing your business and absolutely should dedicate your time to that, while I spend mine making your life a little bit easier.

The process, once I receive your initial enquiry, is to send you a questionnaire to find out about your business and your copywriting needs. I then quote, and we hop on a call to share thoughts and initial ideas. Then it’s contract and deposit time, where we agree the scope and timescale, and I’m off. There’ll be further questions for research and an initial tone test and feedback, then I do my thing and deliver your copy.

Full website copywriting can take time, as we both want it to be right, but I always endeavour to be as accommodating as possible, depending on workload at the time. Feel free to get in touch to check availability.

If you have need for one-off copy, such as blog posts or emails, you can simply send over a brief for a quote, or you can email or call to discuss larger projects. I can be reached on yvette(at) or 07967028935 and will get back to you within 24 hours.

What are your freelance copywriter rates?

I usually charge by project, tailored to the type and volume of work. Some clients, such as digital marketing agencies, prefer day rates and mine is set at £200, which I discount for ongoing or larger projects.

I work for other businesses on retainer for their ongoing copywriting and content writing needs. This can be for work such as email sequences, content strategy and production or branded content, and retainers are always discounted as I account for time saved in reduced research and admin.

I believe in providing a reasonably priced, high-quality copywriting service, with content that offers clear value to your business and therefore a huge return on investment.

Do you offer onsite copywriting or remote?

I offer both, so take your pick! Onsite work is usually with design and digital marketing agencies within the East Midlands. I’m based in Nottingham so it’s easy for me to undertake copywriting projects here in Robin Hood County, or in Derby, Leicester and Staffordshire.

Otherwise I’m not bound by geography, and thanks to the modern day wonders of Skype and email, provide both UK and global copywriting services remotely.

If you are specifically looking for a UK copywriter to meet face-to-face with in the Nottingham vicinity, that’s no problem either. Mine’s tea with milk and no sugar, please!

Do you write in US or British English?

Whichever your ideal customer reads in! I’m a UK copywriter, but have also worked on projects for audiences based in Canada, India and the USA. I’m regularly in sync with Canada, New York and West Coast timings, too, thanks to working part of my week during the evening.

I’m a new freelance copywriter. Any advice?

There’s lots of great advice already out there — and if you want to know where to look I highly recommend:

Ultimately, though, if you want to be a freelance copywriter, you’ve gotta’ put in the work and you’ve gotta’ put in the training. Effective copywriting is about so much more than grammar and decent writing. There’s a lot to learn and no shortcuts.  I love what I do, so don’t mind working my socks off, clocking off late and geeking out on brand messaging in my spare time, but being self-employed is not for the faint of heart, I tell ‘ye.
